The School for Biokinetics, Recreation and Sports Science at North-West University (NWU) in Potchefstroom, South Africa welcomes all invited delegates to the Global Forum for Physical Education Pedagogy (GoFPEP 2014). More than 100 delegates from over 60 countries/regions have been invited to participate in this biannual event drawing together leading experts from a variety of disciplines throughout the world.

The event is scheduled for May 15-17, 2014 and will be held at the Sports Village on the NWU campus. The program will feature presentations by world renowned speakers, a series of workshops and model school presentations from different countries/regions, observations of school programs and, most importantly, opportunities for dialog and conversation.

Invited delegates will be required to prepare a poster presentation which reveals examples of best practice in their home environment and research which has related one’s research interest in an applied fashion revealing evidence of best practice in the school and community settings. Program outcomes will focus on examining best practice in physical education and health pedagogy and the preparation of health and physical education teachers by using interdisciplinary approach with application in a community-based setting.

GoFPEP provides a unique forum in that it enables the combining of perspectives from throughout the world, while at the same time, recognizing the need for program application within one’s cultural context. As a social movement for transformation, GoFPEP seeks to empower its delegates and other stakeholders with tools to serve as change agents.
